About the Role
We are seeking a Middle/Senior Game Designer to join our studio in Da Nang and own the systems layer of our games : progression, core loops, and feature architecture, across one or more titles, currently with an RPG lean.
You’ll work alongside a dedicated Economy Designer, who owns monetization specifically, while you focus on the mechanics and systems underneath it, setting the standard the rest of the design team builds against.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Progression Design: Own core game systems : character progression, combat framework, itemization, and quest/encounter structures, across one or more titles, from concept through launch and post-launch iteration. Design how new content (classes, zones, bosses, gear tiers) integrates into existing systems without disrupting pacing or balance elsewhere.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the Economy Designer to ensure monetization integrates cleanly with underlying systems. Work closely with Programmers on feasibility, and with Artists on how systems are communicated to players.
Balancing & Iteration: Use player data, funnels, and KPIs to diagnose systemic issues (retention dips, engagement drops, underperforming content) and drive the fixes. Document the systems you build clearly enough for engineering, art, and other designers to work from.
Mentorship & Standards: Review Junior/Middle designers’ systems work before release, and mentor them on systems thinking and balancing methodology. Support consistent systems-design practices across RIVRS’s internal team and partner studios.
